Yellow tea gets its name from its appearance of being straw-colored. The slow oxidation during the processing of leaves gives the tea its color. This step in its processing makes it devoid of any grassy taste. The stage of yellowing the tea is called “sealing yellow.”

Processing of tea leaves starts by pan-frying the buds. Following this is the wrapping of the tea leaves in a cloth. The routine is repeated over three days. This repetition allows gentle oxidation before the leaves are dried slowly with charcoal.

It is the rarest of all the classes of tea and is obviously, expensive.

The yellow tea has a smooth taste and a sweet aroma. It is not as popular as the other drinks owing to its geographical restrictions and the prices. However, the benefits of yellow tea are well-reputed.

Preparing Yellow Tea

The necessary steps in preparation for yellow tea are the same as any other tea. But the leaves are steeped in colder water in comparison to black or oolong tea.

What do you need?

· Kettle (stove or electric) or teapot

· Yellow tea leaves

· Teaspoons 

· Strainer

· Cup (s) or

· Tasting bowl

How to brew:

1. Fill the kettle or teapot with water and heat

2.      Warm the teapot and tasting bowl by filling them with hot water and throw the water out. 

3.      Then add a teaspoon of tea leaves (for every cup) in the teapot

4. Next, pour hot water onto the leaves in the teapot

5. Place the lid on the teapot

6.      And steep the tea for 3 minutes

7. Then, using the strainer, pour the tea into the tasting bowl or teacups

8. Enjoy your drink. 

You can alter the strength of the tea by adding or removing the number of tea leaves used. Also, increasing and decreasing steeping times helps change the taste of the tea. Feel free to alter the tea to bring it to the taste of your liking.

Tip: If the tea is too bitter, reduce the temperature of the water.

Ingredients 

· Dried Yellow Roots

· Water and a

· Saucepan

· Strainer 

How to make

· Take a gram of finely chopped yellow root

· Then boil 500 ml of water in the saucepan

· Bring the water to boiling point

· Then add the chopped yellow root to water

· Reduce the heat and

· Simmer for 20 minutes

· Then check whether the water has become bright yellow (if not, continue simmering)

· Strain the mixture and 

· Allow the Yellow Root tea to cool

· Serve your tea

The yellow root tea is bitter to taste. Therefore, if you like, you can add honey to it to bring the taste to your liking.
